Junior Racers (ages 13-18)
This program is a high-energy program taking into consideration the social and emotional development of the age group — lots of team building, group interaction and social events are emphasized. It’s tailored to meet the needs of athletes going through the peak growth period and to allow athletes to perform to their potential. Emphasis on refining cross country running and skiing skills and physical development including “engine building” of aerobic capacity.
Junior Racers receive coaching, a structured training program, aerobic conditioning, race preparation, and ongoing support to help them develop as well-rounded athletes both on and off the trails. They are guided through a variety of training experiences designed to build endurance, improve technique, and prepare for competition in a fun and inclusive team environment.
Junior Racers should be able to classic and skate ski for 30 minutes or 5km non-stop. It’s expected that Junior Racers attend 80% of all dryland training, skating and classic sessions. Junior Racers are expected to attend running and skiing events throughout the season (with a focus on Alberta Cups).
Junior Racers will start on September 7, 2025, with one session a week set by the coach. Junior Racers will move to two days a week starting the week of October 26, 2025.
There will be a Dryland Camp from September 12–14, focused on fitness, technique, and team building. A Snow Camp will take place from November 9–11, providing early-season on-snow training and preparation for winter racing.
Biathlon (ages 12-18)
The Camrose Biathlon program provides athletes twelve and up a chance to enjoy the exciting sport of biathlon (which combines nordic skiing and rifle shooting) within an inclusive, encouraging, and controlled environment. Our mission is to help our athletes achieve their own goals, whether they are wanting to make it to the Olympics one day or doing the sport recreationally we will help them in any way we can. Dedicated coaching staff, administration and volunteers help run the Camrose Biathlon Club and are committed to our athlete’s success.
Participants wanting to join our biathlon program must be able to classic and skate ski and should complete at minimum one year of Track Attack skiing. The club does offer rifles to rent but the expectation is they must have their own wax-able skis, boots and poles for both classic and skate technique.
Biathlon training sessions are scheduled for Monday and Wednesday evenings, from 4:45 PM to 6:15 PM.
Multiple Program Registration
If your child is planning to participate in both a cross country program and biathlon you only need to register them for the biathlon program.
